Why rent rather than buy?
Renting suits anyone who needs a stairlift for weeks or months rather than years. You get the same lift, the same safety, and the same local team — without paying upfront for something you may not need long term.
Low upfront cost
Straight rental £500 all-in for install, removal, maintenance and first month. Curved from £2,000 — no big lump sum needed.
Maintenance included
All servicing, call-outs and parts are covered for the whole rental period.
Fitted in 24–48 hours
Straight stairlifts are surveyed and fitted fast — usually inside two working days.
24-hour support
If anything goes wrong, our local team is on the end of the phone day or night.
Cancel any time
One-month minimum, then rolling. Tell us when you're done and we'll remove it.
Rent-to-own option
Decide to keep it? Your rental payments can be credited toward buying the lift.
When renting makes sense
As a rough rule, if you need the stairlift for less than seven months, renting will work out cheaper than buying new. We offer both straight and curved rentals — get in touch for a tailored quote.
Recovering from surgery or injury
Hip or knee replacement, stroke recovery, a fracture — anywhere you need stairs solved for a few weeks or months.
Home renovations
A bedroom or downstairs bathroom going in? Rent for the build, return it when the work is done.
Temporary care at home
Hosting a parent or relative after a hospital discharge — get them safely upstairs without a permanent install.
Trying before you buy
Not sure a stairlift is the right call? Hire one, live with it, then decide on buying new or reconditioned.
Rent vs buy — at a glance
If you already know you need a stairlift for the long haul, buying is almost always better value. If you're not sure, rent first.
| Best if you… | Option | Indicative cost |
|---|---|---|
| Need it for a few weeks or months | Rental (straight) | £500 inc. first month, then £50/mo |
| Curved staircase, short-term need | Rental (curved) | From £2,000, then £80/mo |
| Want a long-term solution, tight budget | Reconditioned | £995 fitted |
| Have a straight staircase and want new | Straight stairlift | £1,995 fitted |
| Have a curved or turning staircase | Curved stairlift | £2,995 fitted |
As a guide, straight rental works out more expensive than buying new after about seven months.

Stairlift rental questions
How much does it cost to rent a stairlift?
Straight stairlifts are £500 including installation, removal, maintenance and your first month — then £50 a month. Curved rentals start from £2,000 (we sometimes do a deal at £2,000–£2,200 including six months' rent) — then £80 a month. Servicing and 24-hour support are included.
How quickly can it be fitted?
Straight stairlifts are normally fitted within 24–48 hours of your survey. Curved rentals take longer because the rail is bespoke — call us and we'll give you a realistic timescale.
Is there a minimum rental period?
Yes — one month minimum, then rolling. After that, you can give notice whenever you no longer need it and we'll collect.
Can I buy the stairlift if I decide to keep it?
Yes. We can convert your rental into a purchase, and credit some of your rental payments toward the cost.
What happens if it breaks down?
Call our 24-hour helpline. An engineer will come out to repair it — parts, labour and call-outs are all included in your rental.
Does it work in a power cut?
Yes. Rental stairlifts run on rechargeable batteries, so they keep working when the mains is off.
Need a stairlift, just not forever?
