Like new, half the price

The smart way to stay independent at home.

A reconditioned stairlift is a previously used straight stairlift that we've stripped down, professionally refurbished and safety-tested in our own workshop. The result is a lift that looks and works like new — fitted by our local engineers for a fraction of the cost.

We hold popular models such as the Acorn 130 and Brooks BS101 in stock, so a reconditioned straight stairlift is often the fastest way to get someone safely up and down the stairs again after illness, surgery or a sudden change in mobility.

Why reconditioned

Why so many Manchester families choose reconditioned.

You don't have to spend new-stairlift money to get a safe, reliable, comfortable ride. Here's what you get with every reconditioned stairlift we install.

  • Half the price of new

A professionally reconditioned straight stairlift for £995 fitted — the same safe, reliable ride at roughly half the price of a new lift.

  • Fully refurbished in our workshop

Stripped, deep-cleaned, mechanically and electrically tested, with worn parts replaced. It looks and runs like new.

  • Often fitted in 24–48 hours

We hold reconditioned straight stairlifts in stock, so we can usually survey and install within two days of your call.

  • Same 12-month warranty

Every reconditioned lift comes with the same 12-month parts & labour warranty as our new stairlifts, plus 24-hour callout.

  • Works in a power cut

Fresh batteries fitted and tested as standard — your lift keeps running even when the mains go down.

  • A greener choice

Reusing a quality stairlift keeps a perfectly good machine out of landfill — kinder to your pocket and the planet.

Fixed price, no surprises

How we recondition

Workshop-rebuilt, safety-tested, fitted like new.

Every reconditioned stairlift goes through the same workshop process before it ever reaches your home. If a unit doesn't meet our standards, it doesn't get fitted.

  • Full visual & mechanical inspection
  • Electrical safety checks
  • Battery replacement & charging test
  • Motor and drive system testing
  • Safety sensor & seatbelt testing
  • Seat, arms & footrest checks
  • Remote control testing
  • Deep clean & refurbishment
  • Final operation test before fitting

Reconditioned vs second-hand

Not the same as buying second-hand off the internet.

A stairlift is a safety product — not a piece of furniture. A second-hand lift bought privately is sold as-is, with no inspection, no warranty and no professional fitting. A reconditioned stairlift from us has been workshop-rebuilt, safety-tested and is installed and backed by our own engineers.

Our reconditioned stairlift

  • Fully refurbished in our workshop
  • New batteries fitted as standard
  • All safety sensors tested
  • Professionally installed by our engineers
  • 12-month parts & labour warranty
  • 24-hour emergency callout cover

A second-hand lift online

  • Sold as-is, no inspection
  • Batteries may be flat or failing
  • Safety features not tested
  • You arrange your own installer
  • Usually no warranty cover
  • No-one to call if it goes wrong

Frequently asked questions

How much does a reconditioned stairlift cost?

A fully reconditioned straight stairlift is a fixed £995 fitted, including the free home survey, installation, handover and a 12-month warranty.

What does 'reconditioned' actually mean?

A reconditioned stairlift is a previously used lift that has been professionally stripped, inspected, deep-cleaned and rebuilt in our workshop. Worn parts are replaced, batteries renewed and every safety feature tested before it leaves us.

How quickly can you install one?

Because we hold reconditioned straight stairlifts in stock, we can usually survey and fit within 24–48 hours of your first call. Same-day emergency fitting is sometimes possible — ask when you ring.

Is a reconditioned stairlift as safe as a new one?

Yes. Every reconditioned lift goes through the same rigorous safety checks as a new install, with new batteries, tested sensors, a working seatbelt, hold-to-run controls and a lockable keyswitch.

Is there a warranty?

Yes — every reconditioned stairlift includes the same 12-month parts and labour warranty as new, plus a 24-hour emergency callout line covering Greater Manchester.

Will it damage my staircase?

No. The rail attaches to the stair treads, not your wall. When the lift is eventually removed, the holes are small and easily filled.

What if I have a curved staircase?

Curved staircases need a made-to-measure rail, so we fit brand-new curved stairlifts for those — see our curved stairlift page for details.
