The Infinity heavy-duty stairlift is built for users up to 25 stone (160 kg) — about 35% above a standard stairlift's 19-stone (120 kg) limit. Wider seat, reinforced brackets, a stronger drive system and a heavier-duty battery, all certified to BS EN 81-40.
If the user is close to or above a standard lift's weight limit, the Infinity is the right call from day one. Standard lifts run within their rating will outlast a heavier user; standard lifts run over their rating fail early — brake wear, motor stall on the climb and premature battery drop-off.

Who it's for
- Users between 19 and 25 stone (120–160 kg)
- Users at the upper end of the standard band who carry items, wear winter clothing or use mobility aids that add to the seat load
- Larger users who need more hip and shoulder room (the wider seat often matters more day-to-day than the weight rating itself)
- Daily heavy use where lift longevity matters
For users above 25 stone (160 kg), we fit specialist bariatric stairlifts rated to 30 stone (190 kg) — quoted on survey.
Built for daily heavy use
The Infinity isn't just a standard lift with a higher headline rating. The motor, drive belt and brake assembly are uprated; the rail uses closer-spaced bracket points to spread the load; and the seat frame is welded steel rather than the lighter pressed-steel of a standard chair. Battery undervoltage — the most common failure mode on overloaded standard lifts — is engineered out.
Standard features
- Folding seat, arms and footrest — staircase stays usable on foot
- Powered swivel at the top — safer transfers for larger users
- Obstruction sensors on the footrest and underside
- Seatbelt with secure latch
- Battery-powered — works through a power cut
- Charging at top and bottom of the stairs
- Joystick and remote-call controls
- Soft-start and soft-stop drive
- Diagnostic display with fault codes
Fitting and lead time
- Straight Infinity heavy-duty — fitted in 24–48 hours of survey, install takes 3–4 hours (slightly longer than standard due to additional bracket points)
- Curved Infinity heavy-duty — made to measure, 1–3 weeks, or 48 hours with our Emergency option
The survey is free, on-site, and confirms tread integrity for the heavier loading. Rotten or split treads must be repaired before fitting — uncommon, but we check.
What it costs
The Infinity range is priced above a standard stairlift because the components are larger and the install takes longer. Typical fitted prices:
- Straight Infinity heavy-duty — from £2,995 fitted
- Curved Infinity heavy-duty — quoted on survey, typically £3,500–£4,500 all-in
Both include the free home survey, installation, handover and a 12-month warranty. VAT relief (a 20% saving) applies for users with a long-term illness or disability.
If a standard lift would do the job safely, we'll tell you on the day — we don't oversell. But if the user is close to the standard 19-stone limit, the heavy-duty model is the safer long-term call.
- Family-run, Acorn-accredited local team
- Free no-obligation home survey
- 12-month warranty on every installation
- 24-hour emergency repairs across Greater Manchester
Aftercare
Heavy-duty lifts benefit even more than standard from annual servicing — the higher load on bearings, brakes and battery means small issues compound faster if left. Annual service from £80 per visit, 24-hour emergency callout across Greater Manchester. See servicing & repairs.
